Sumak-matto – Eleganssin ja käsityötaidon vahva ilmentymä
Sumak-matto on perinteinen solmuton kudontatekniikkaa hyödyntävä käsityötaideteos, joka heijastaa rikkaasti Lähi-idän – erityisesti Iranin, Azerbaidžanin ja Itä-Turkin alueiden kulttuuriperintöä. Se ei ole pelkästään lattianpäällyste, vaan taideteos ja historian kertomus.
Sumak-tekniikassa langat kierretään loimilankojen ympäri solmujen sijaan. Tämä antaa matolle sileän pinnan ja tiiviin, kestävän rakenteen. Tuloksena on sekä esteettisesti kaunis että käytännöllinen kudos.
Kuvioissa esiintyy usein geometrisia muotoja, eläinaiheita ja symbolisia elementtejä. Jokainen kuvio kertoo kudontataiteilijan tarinan tai edustaa kulttuurista perintöä. Värit saadaan usein luonnollisista kasviväreistä, mikä tuo mattoon aidon ja ajattoman ilmeen.
