“Ziegler carpets” long ago became a term used to refer to certain style of carpet. This style was developed by a German company “Ziegler & Co.” based in Manchester, England. It is a modified version of more traditional Persian designs with bolder all-over patterns and softer colour palettes. Zeigler carpets have re-introduced vegetable dyes back into Persian & Oriental weaving after the popular use of chemical dyes since the start of the 20th century. Although their knot count is not generally high, the wool used is of high quality and the structure very durable. Nowadays Ziegler-style carpets are being produced in many countries and are among the most popular sold handmade carpets. Ziegler rugs were designed with the western market in mind and fit perfectly into almost any home.
